ALPACTIVE is an antimicrobial technology based on
silver-ions. The silver, a natural occurring inorganic
element, is a natural antimicrobial compound known
and used for disinfection since the ancient times.

ALPACTIVE silver-zeolite antimicrobial compound has
got the following certifications / approvals:
- EUROPE – EEC (European Environment Commission) the “silver” is listed as active substance in the Biocide Product Directive (BPD) 98/8/EC. The scope of this directive is to assure a high level of protection for the people, the animals and the environment
- EUROPE - EFSA (European Food Safety Agency) : Accepted to be used in materials intended for direct contact with food
- ITALY – MINISTRY OF HEALTH - Department of Innovation : Tested and validated by a nominated Ministerial Technical-Scientific Commission after specific tests carried out in real working conditions. The results of this experimentation has been published in the “Journal of Preventive Medicine and Hygiene” March 2008
- USA - EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) : Registered for broad range of uses, including food contact, water contact, HVAC systems, toys toothbrushes and upgrade applications
- USA - FDA (Food and Drug Administration) Dept. of Health & Human Services : Accepted to be used in repeated use articles in contact with all types of food, and included in the Inventory of Food Contact Substances
- USA - USDA (Department of Agriculture) : Included in the Non-food Compounds inventory list, managed by NSF, to be used in the food processing plants
- USA - NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) : Accepted for use in and around food processing areas
- USA - CTFA (Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association) : Accepted as ingredient in the manufacture of cosmetic products. The compound has been also included in The International Cosmetic Ingredient Dictionary and Handbook of CTFA
- CAN - HEALTH CANADA - Health Products and Food Branch : Accepted to be used in food-packaging applications
